2. To converge on or toward a central point of focus; be focused.
3. To adjust one's vision so as to render a clear, distinct image.
4. To concentrate attention or energy

According to www.future-perfect.co.uk, "the official requirements are that we double a single consonant letter at the end of any base where the preceding vowel is spelled with a single letter and stressed"... although they add that 'Focused' can take either double or single s, with the single option being highly preferred.
